Studio update: COVID Protection Plan

Posted: Friday, February 25, 2022 8:00 AM (EST)

We are so pleased to see the COVID situation improving in Toronto and beyond! As part of our COVID Protection Plan, we will continue to proceed cautiously and take a phased approach towards lifting COVID restrictions.

Since reopening last month, we have had 0 cases of COVID transmission. With our capacity limits increased to 75% last week and overall attendance up by 50% in the past few weeks, we will continue to monitor for any community spread.

Just as we have decided to temporarily limit studio capacity to 75%, we will also be extending our vaccination policy to ensure a comfortable transition. Proof of vaccination will remain a requirement until April 1, 2022. This will allow our team to create sustainable change and give everyone time to adjust to new policies. Studio capacity will remain at 75% until further notice. For more information, please visit our COVID Protected Protocols page.

Many of you have reached out to share your encouragement and appreciation for maintaining careful safety measures in a space that means so much to you. Thank you for your continued support. We have so much love for our Sweat Fam, and are incredibly grateful to be your place of joy, community, and home away from home.

Studio reopening in January

Posted: Wednesday, December 29, 2021 2:15 PM (EST)

S&T will be reopening Sunday, January 2nd at 7:30 AM, and will be running our regular class schedule, with the exception of a few reductions to minimize crowding. We have also added more Sweat Live classes to the schedule so there are even more ways to sweat with us from home. The class schedule for January 2nd onwards will go live today, Wednesday, December 29th at 5 PM.

All memberships and credits that were frozen due to the closure will be unfrozen today (Dec 29) at 5 PM to allow for advanced class booking. Billing cycles will still be extended by 3 days to account for the remaining days that the studio is closed.

We’re looking forward to reopening our doors and welcoming everyone back! At S&T, we have been so fortunate that our COVID Protection Policies have kept our community safe for years. As always, our priority is to provide a space we can sweat comfortably and safely in. With the Omicron variant spreading rapidly through Toronto and beyond, we have re-evaluated our protocols and have added even more measures, beyond the City’s recommendations and requirements, to ensure we’re continuing the uphold our promise of creating the safest environment possible. These enhancements include:

  • Increased mask monitoring and protocols throughout the facility
  • Removal of indoor dining, except in Tonic House where social distancing can be closely monitored
  • Improved contact tracing and communication processes in conjunction with Toronto Public Health
  • Stricter entry checks to ensure all staff and guests complete temperature checks, hand sanitizer, and a COVID symptom check, as required, prior to entering
  • Extending the risk window from 48 hours to 72 hours — anyone that has displayed symptoms or come into contact with a positive case will be asked to isolate for 72 hours. As always, team members will be required to provide a negative test before returning to the studio.

We will continue to run at a reduced capacity of 50% until further notice, and enforce social distancing with at least 6 ft. of space between guests. All staff will continue to be rapid tested on a regular basis.

Thank you to everyone for your messages of support and encouragement. We are so grateful for each and every one of you. We know that sweating together is critical to both physical and mental health, and we’re looking forward to kicking 2022 off together!

If you have any questions or feedback, please send us a note at hello@sweatandtonic.com.

Temporary studio holiday closure

Posted: Tuesday, December 21, 2021 9:00 PM (EST)

Due to the rapidly changing conditions and increasing COVID-19 cases in our community, Sweat and Tonic has decided to temporarily close starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 22nd. We have been closely monitoring cases throughout the city and case numbers continue to increase each day. With rapid testing at S&T, we have been fortunate to have identified cases early, and after discussions with our team and Toronto Public Health, we have decided that the best course of action is to close for the holiday season. We will continue to monitor this current wave as it evolves, and plan to welcome you back on January 2nd.

Starting tomorrow, in-studio classes, nutbar café, Tonic Bar, Tonic House, and Lemon Water Wellness at S&T will be temporarily closed. This is not a decision we make lightly, as we know that our team members and many of our community members depend on S&T. All Unlimited memberships and class credits will be automatically frozen during this time of closure, and any credits for services booked during this closure will be returned to your accounts. To ensure that the impact to our team members is minimal, we will also honour employee pay for any scheduled shifts/classes between now and January 2nd.

As we’ve heard from so many members of our community, Sweat and Tonic has been a source of comfort and strength, and we recognize how incredibly important exercise is for both mental and physical health, especially during such a challenging time. Despite not being able to sweat together in person, we will continue to offer on-demand workouts on Sweat on Demand, and will be extending our live, virtual class offerings on Sweat Live after the holidays – details to come!

As always, the health and safety of our guests, our team, and our community is our priority. We are hopeful that we will be able to sweat together in-studio again soon. In the meantime, we’ll sweat with you at home!

Thank you for your continued understanding, support, and positivity. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at hello@sweatandtonic.com. We wish you all a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season.

Always stronger together,

S&T Team

Last updated: Friday, December 17, 2021 5:10 PM (EST)

In accordance with the government of Ontario’s latest update to reduce capacity to 50%, we will be implementing the below changes, effective Sunday, December 19, 2021.

Important update: Reduced studio capacity to 50%

Posted: Friday, December 17, 2021 2:00 PM (EST)

While Ontario’s recent changes to capacity limits do not apply to fitness facilities like S&T, amidst the growing COVID numbers in the province, Sweat & Tonic has decided to take additional measures to ensure we’re creating the safest environment for our team and community:

  • Effective Monday, December 20, we will be reducing all class capacity to 50% to allow for increased social distancing and further spacing between stations
  • Our class schedules will be reduced to minimize traffic within the studio
  • Plexiglass dividers will be reinstalled in all three studios and at the front desk
  • All of our team members working inside the studio will continue with rapid testing to provide early detection of potential infection
  • The studio will be closed additional days over the holidays: Dec. 25, Dec. 26, Dec. 27, Dec. 28, and Jan. 1

All of these measures are in addition to our existing COVID Protection Plan, which includes:

  • Temperature & proof of vaccination checks
  • Disinfection stations & full-time cleaning and disinfection team
  • Mask and social distancing requirements
  • Hospital-grade ventilation
  • Enforcing class start times to streamline traffic within classes and protect guests from unplanned disruptions to the studio space

As we approach two years into the pandemic, world-wide resistance to basic COVID protocols (masks, social distancing, hand sanitizing) have risen. These basic protocols are the most effective ways to avoid infection, and we will be strict with these throughout the studio. To protect our team and your fellow community members, we ask that you also exercise caution and good judgement, when you’re both inside and outside of our facility.

With these safety measures in place, we are hopeful that S&T can remain operational and that everyone can continue sweating together without interruption. As we’ve heard from many of you, S&T has been a place of solace, joy and a much-needed mental break during a very challenging time. We will continue to monitor the situation daily, and do everything in our power to continue offering these services to our community.

We thank all of our guests and team for your continued support and positive spirits. This is just the latest challenge that we will overcome together.
